Biography

Performing

Simon’s broad range of musical interests reflect the variety of experience he has had as a performer. As a choral conductor he currently works with the Chapel Choirs of Keble College, Oxford and Abingdon School alongside his work with the Chamber Choir, Jubilate!. Simon has also sung for many choirs including Chichester Cathedral and Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford. He is a pianist who undertakes much accompanying (especially for vocal recitals) and he also has considerable experience as an organist and harpsichordist.

Teaching

Simon has taught at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, focussing on both compositional techniques and questions of music history and analysis. For him breadth of musical knowledge is a prerequisite for successful composition.

Experience

Simon has been associated with Oxford for many years, both as an undergraduate organ scholar and now as the Music Fellow of Keble College. He also teaches and conducts locally at Abingdon School.
