Simon has started work on a short piece for choir that will be performed privately at a 40th birthday party in June. The text is a setting of Valediction to Life, a beautifully poignant poem from the seventeenth century.

Triptych · Apr 29, 2007

Simon has completed the commission for Oxford Artsweek and the piece has also been recorded by The Friedrich Trio. This CD will be on sale at the first performance on Sunday 13th May at the Jacqueline du Pre Music Building in St Hilda’s College, Oxford. The piece is in three movements, Incantation, Serenade and Icon; three local artists have responded to the piece and their work will be exhibited at the three performances in Oxfordshire.

Simon is in discussion with conductor, Scott Ellaway, about a proposed commission for a Chamber Orchestra piece to be performed, possibly at Keble College, Oxford, early next summer.

Oxford Arts Week · Dec 16, 2006

Simon has been commissioned by Oxford Arts Week to write a clarinet trio for The Friedrich Trio. The piece will be performed at three venues in north, central and south Oxfordshire and used as a musical stimulus for a nuber of local artists whose work is to be exhibited during the week next May.

Korea and Japan · Sep 03, 2006

Simon has just been touring for two weeks in Seoul, Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka with Keble College Chapel Choir. They sang Simon’s revised American Folk Song Arrangements as well as 2 new arrangements; one of a Korean folk song, Arirang, and the other of the well-known Japanese song, Sakura. Arirang was especially well received both in concert and by the Korean press.
