The Composer
Simon Whalley is a composer based in Oxford, England. He has a wide portfolio of compositions including film and theatre work, choral and vocal, orchestral, sacred and secular pieces, and has much experience in writing ‘occasional’ music that works specifically for a set time and place. His works are performed across the globe from Washington DC to Moscow, as well as in continental Europe and, of course, at home in England.
Why commission a piece of music?
Compositions are undertaken for a wide range of people from individuals to groups. By commissioning a new work you can give a unique gift or commemorate a special event. You might need some incidental music for a stage show or film score; or wish to mark an important event in the life of your company, church or relationship. A number of commissions have come about as presents for significant anniversaries or to mark a retirement. The thrill of a first performance can make a wonderfully lasting impression and bring great pleasure.
